The origins of the village are Guanche, as evidenced by the collection of rock carvings in the Aripe area; however, it is believed to have been established as a settlement in the 17th century.
This settlement was initially focused on livestock farming, which was joined by agriculture based on cereals and almonds during the 18th century. This agricultural activity persisted throughout this period and led to an increase in population, but it entered into crisis in the second half of the century.
The link between this settlement and agricultural activity is reflected not only in its surroundings, but also in the festivals celebrated in the village, such as the Majada de la Almendra.
