With over 300 days of sunshine a year and mild temperatures ranging between 20 and 26 degrees, the town offers perfect conditions for enjoying nature and the great outdoors in any season. On the coast, the climate is warm and mild; in the mid-altitude areas, it is cooler and greener. Useful information

When to visit

All year round. For the beach: spring and autumn offer consistently good weather; in winter, hiking is particularly enjoyable; in summer, the coast is warm without being too hot. The chance of rain is low and is concentrated over a few days between November and February.

Local phenomena

  • Trade winds: these cool the climate for most of the year and help keep the skies clear in the south-west

  • Sea of clouds: visible from high vantage points when the trade winds push clouds against the hillsides; it makes for spectacular views

  • Calima (Saharan dust): occasional episodes, particularly in winter and late summer; reduces visibility and raises temperatures.

Consejos prácticos

  • Sun protection all year round (high UV levels even on misty days).

  • Layers: a light T-shirt for the coast; a sweatshirt or windbreaker for mid-altitude areas; a jacket for higher ground in the evening.

  • Stay hydrated and wear sunglasses on days with haze.

  • Check official advisories for information on heat, wind or forest fires.
