In February 2023, residents voted in an online survey to choose this charming event as the centrepiece of an eco-tourism initiative under the ECO-TUR2 European Project, supported by the Interreg MAC programme. Of the three options proposed for the project, the Pascua Florida (the town’s Easter celebration) stood out for its ability to attract visitors, boost the local economy and create jobs. With a total of 487 responses, a weighted mathematical system based on the agreed criteria was used to make the choice, and this magnificent event came out on top.
Since then, Guía de Isora Town Council has been working to showcase the Pascua Florida and turn it into a permanent, year-round tourism offer. The aim is for locals and visitors alike to enjoy this unique and authentic tradition at any time, strengthening both cultural identity and the local economy.
On Thursday 27 July, the Town Council took a further step in promoting the Pascua Florida by launching its own website. It offers a wide range of information inviting you to explore its history, the different editions, the featured artists , the photography competition and more. Visitors can also dive into a multimedia treasure trove of photos and videos that capture the essence and beauty of this unique festival.
The Pascua Florida, held during Holy Week, is much more than a simple religious celebration. It is an experience where tradition and nature are woven together in perfect harmony. It is one of the most moving times of the year in Guía de Isora, showing devotion and commitment to the area’s cultural heritage.
Over the coming months, further activities will be carried out under the ECO-TUR2 Project, so that everyone can enjoy this event, unique in Spain, 365 days a year.
