Typical products from Isora

Isora's agricultural and traditional products are a delightful challenge for visitors and are the key feature that sets the municipality apart.

Every corner of Guía de Isora cultivates products that reflect the essence of its landscape: high-altitude wines, tajinaste honey, artisan cheeses and tropical fruits ripened by the south-western Tenerife sun. Each typical product is a testament to the dedication and expertise of local producers, guardians of a tradition that transforms the land and sea into authentic gastronomic gems.

Sweets

The sweets made in Guía de Isora, the result of an ancient baking tradition, are known throughout the island and even beyond.

The dedication of several families to the production and sale of typical Canarian sweets (including rosquetes, huesitos, almond cakes and truchas, among others) allows us to enjoy these delicacies today in various sweet shops throughout the municipality.

Wines

On soils of ash and volcanic rock caressed by the Atlantic climate lie vineyards that mainly produce Listán Blanco and Listán Negro varieties, grapes from which white, rosé and young red wines are made. There is also a limited but interesting production of sweet wines, mainly made from Malvasía and Muscat varieties. All of them bear the Ycoden-Daute-Isora designation of origin. These vineyards are mainly found in Chío, Chirche and Tejina, as well as in the orchards of El Jaral and Acojeja.

Cheeses

Another artisan delicacy worth trying in Guía de Isora is cheese. You will love both the fresh and cured varieties (smoked, with paprika, without paprika).

Honey

The tradition of beekeeping in Guía de Isora dates back to before the conquest. For centuries, knowledge of honey production techniques has been passed down from father to son. Today, beekeeping is another activity that is quite successful in Guía de Isora.

It is practised at altitudes of between 500 metres and the mountainous area, taking advantage of the vegetation that is conducive to obtaining high-quality honey.

The honey produced in the mountains is highly prized and can be purchased in shops in the municipality.
