Tenerife is one of the best places in Europe for scuba diving due to its warm climate, crystal clear waters and rich marine life. 

For this reason, many people interested in this activity go diving in Tenerife and here we present you the best dive sites, of different levels, to explore.

El Puertito

Located in the south of Tenerife, El Puertito is an ideal dive spot for beginner divers. 

The water here is generally calm and warm, and there is an abundance of marine life to explore, such as different fish such as wrasse and canary damsels, and if you’re very lucky you may see sea turtles still hanging around.

Los Chuchos

Los Chuchos, near Las Galletas, is a popular dive site for diving in Tenerife. Here you can find a wide variety of stingrays, also known by the Canarians as “chuchos”, as well as fish, moray eels and angel sharks among others. The site also offers views of small underwater caves.

Montaña Amarilla

Montaña Amarilla is an interesting diving spot in Tenerife due to its unique landscape. The Montaña Amarilla Natural Monument in Tenerife is a protected landscape of great ecological value located in the municipality of San Miguel de Abona. It stands out because of the yellow colour of the rocks, which amaze the eye when the sun touches them and offers a great variety of marine life, where you can see animals such as the angelshark, yellow mackerel, octopus, cuttlefish, among others.

Bajo de los Realejos

Bajo de Los Realejos is a dive site in the north of Tenerife which is known for its great variety of marine life and crystal clear waters. Here you can find various caves, rock formations and tunnels that make for a unique excursion. Some of the species you can find are: mackerel, sardines, amberjacks, groupers, bigeyes and moray eels among others.

Playa de San Juan and Alcalá in Guía de Isora

Playa de San Juan and Alcalá are spots that stand out for their good visibility, extraordinary rock formations, caves and diverse underwater world, which makes these places suitable for this activity. With diving depths of 10 to 40 metres there are dive sites that are suitable for both beginners and experienced divers. Lava formations alternate with sandy areas full of life. More than 20 exciting dive sites with ledges, steep walls and caves offer variety for every dive. The biodiversity of the Atlantic with its cuttlefish, octopus, moray eels, various types of schooling fish, large black rays, also known as black stingrays, make the dives a special and unforgettable experience. In the winter months, angel sharks and shiners are also present.
