Punta Blanca, the well-known beach of Guía de Isora, was the epicentre of the surfing and bodyboarding championship “Punta Blanca Young Series by Quiksilver” attracting young athletes and an international audience interested in water sports.
There were 64 young surfers who participated in this event under the Under-21 category, exhibiting their skills in these sports in front of the waves of this wonderful location, which are characterised by being very attractive for those who love this type of event.
The meeting made Guía de Isora the focus of international sports tourism; a very valuable boost to encourage the practice of these activities by young residents.
Tentative dates for the Punta Blanca surfing championship
The event was held on the 17th and 18th of March 2022, with a waiting period, in which the date was secured just 5 days before the event.
This is due to the organisers waiting for the best wave conditions to create a unique event in surfing and bodyboarding. This wait has been going on since December 2021, with a deadline of April 2022.
Organisers and sponsors
This championship was sponsored by the City of Guía de Isora together with Quicksilver, Gabaceras and Tourism of Tenerife. So it had the full support of these institutions and companies for the realization of a truly amazing event.
It also had excellent collaborators, such as the Canarian Surfing Federation, Punta Blanca Surf Club, Wave’s Legends Surf Club and Fontapurru.

Punta Blanca is one of the beaches with the best waves in the Canary Islands, making it a highly attractive destination for holding national and international surfing championships of various categories.
This meant that the 2022 calendar for this beach included championships in November and December. These events were certainly important for the surfing scene, the Canary Islands and Guía de Isora as a municipality.
This year 2023 the dates for the championships and exhibitions are still to be confirmed and will be held in Punta Blanca, Guía de Isora.
